Martin Sachse was LL Nunn's mechanic at Deep Springs from 1919 through 1929. The building known for many years on the lower ranch as "The Cowboy House" was originally built for Martin's family and Heide lived there as a little girl.

Notes
This image an others contributed by Denis Clark in June 2017 are a selection from the images contained in the first edition of the source mentioned above. Not all images in the book are included, and sometimes the images are very similar but not identical. The intent is to capture the research effort n the book in terms of images; the original book should be consulted for context. I wonder if the date is earlier than 1923, since his health was fairly poor by then, and he does not look too bad here.

This is part of a miscellaneous collection of images assembled over several decades by Denis Clark from various sources. Topper was also the name of Hopalong Cassidy's horse
Foreground view includes Sachse house on left, irrigator shack in middle, chicken coop on right. Main Building can be seen in far background. Image is labeled circa 1918, but Sachse house wasn't built until early 1920s. Irrigation shack and chicken coop are part of original Stewart Ranch.
