The most interesting part to Deep Springs people will be Chapters 4 and 5, pp. 115-212, which cover the years in the late 1940s when Merritt was the staff cowboy at Deep Springs. The surrounding chapters include accounts of their life in the cowboy and mining cultures of the parts of Nevada and California adjacent to Deep Springs.
