Notes
Bx67_IBSIIBS was the designation of a scan of this image provided by the Cornell Library ca. 2000, including a second print with names penned in red, which, however, left some people unidentified. A better print and a negative, with a complete caption, existed in the Deep Springs Archive, gathered into vol. 1 of Kevin West's student project ca. 1990. This is the image reproduced here. Perhaps the costumes were based on mummers - note Julian Steward's blackface, characteristic of that ritual. - DEC 12/2018.
