Ed Loomis DS42 in jeep overlooking DS Valley. The remnants of the (very steep) road remain in place on Chocolate Mountain as of 2017, but vehicle access to the road ended in 1990s with creation of the Piper Mountain Wilderness.

Note presence of gravity flow irrigation channels running across the alfalfa fields (known as 'checks'). Total acreage at this time is approximately 140 acres. These fields remain intact as of 2017, with addition of 15 acres north of main fields.
